2.0 Movie Review

A sequel to the hit movie ‘Enthiran’ (2010), the movie 2.0 is finally released. A typical Shankar film with a superb spectacle of special effects.

The film starts off with the suicide of an old ornithologist (Akshay Kumar), who comes back with a power to destroy mankind. Soon with the consolidated power of his birdie friends’ souls, he starts taking revenge on mankind. The story line was a bit weak and dragging but after all its a Shankar’s film with its interpretation in a grand canvas.

In the first half, though we had our Chitti entrance, there wasn’t much to look forward to except for some striking visuals like mobile phones crawling on the road, a forest of glowing phones and a giant bird made of the mobile phones. This also imparted to some horror effects in the movie.

Rajnikanth as Dr. Vasigaran and Chitti were as we would have expected from the previous movie. But hats off to him as 2.0 in the second half of the movie which contributed to the much needed spiciness missing in the first half. When one watches him in this role, we are bound to think that no one else could have carried this role better than him. At the end there was also a cute little surprise in the form of 3.0 aka Kutti (Rajini again!!!).

Akshay Kumar also has done justice to his role as the antagonist. A special mention for Amy Jackson too, as the humanoid robot Nila.
